This one came together exactly the way you hope a cabin build will. The Northern Steam Tuli Model sits right on the edge of Island Lake near Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota - tucked between the pines with a direct view of the water. It fits the setting like it was always supposed to be there.
The Tuli is a well-thought-out unit. The exterior is clean and modern - gray board-and-batten siding, a flat shed roof with a cedar soffit, recessed lighting under the overhang, and a full glass-panel door that lets the light pour in. Inside, it's all cedar. Walls, ceiling, benches, floor - everything finished tight with no shortcuts. The gas-fired Torch heater sits center stage, loaded with stones, ready to get hot fast without any fuss. Push a button, walk away, come back to a sauna that's ready.
That gas setup matters more than people realize. At a cabin, you don't always want to babysit a wood fire for an hour before you can use the sauna. With a gas heater, you fire it up and go do something else. It's consistent, it's easy, and it means the sauna actually gets used instead of sitting idle. For a family cabin that sees a lot of different people coming and going, that convenience is a real advantage.
The window placement is what really sets this build apart. From inside, you get a clear sightline straight through the trees to the lake. Step out the door and you're a short walk from the dock. The whole layout was designed around that experience - sauna, then water. It's hard to beat that for a Minnesota summer evening or even a cold morning in the off-season. These clients are going to get a lot of years out of this setup.
We're proud of how this one turned out. Builds like this - where the location is right, the product is right, and the clients appreciate what goes into it - those are the ones worth talking about.
