Custom Outdoor Sauna Build in Chanhassen Minnesota

This one was built around a simple idea - give a family a space to slow down. No overcrowding, no cramped benches. Just a well-proportioned 7x10 steam room with enough room to actually stretch out and enjoy the heat.

The exterior has a clean, modern look. Vertical board siding, a natural wood soffit with recessed lighting, and a glass-panel cedar door. It fits right into a residential backyard without looking out of place - and that's not easy to pull off with a structure this size.

Inside, we used tongue-and-groove cedar throughout - walls, ceiling, floor, benches. Cedar handles the heat and humidity well, and it only gets better with use. The IKI Pillar heater sits center-stage. That's a Finnish-made unit known for its massive stone capacity, which is what gives you that soft, even heat instead of the harsh, dry blast you get from lesser heaters. Paired with WiFi controls, this sauna is ready to go before you even walk outside.

The oversized window is one of our favorite details on this build. It opens up the space, pulls in natural light, and gives you something to look at while you're in there. That view of the backyard while you're sweating it out - it's one of those things that sounds small but makes a real difference in the experience.

Chanhassen homeowners get a lot of use out of spaces like this year-round. Minnesota winters make a hot sauna feel even better, and summers aren't too bad either. This is the kind of addition that gets used constantly - not just once in a while.
